A touring children's choir from Uganda has been victimized by theft in Vancouver's Gastown neighbourhood.

The crime occurred while Sawuti Choir was performing in the atrium of the Woodward's building on Saturday (April 13).

      The group is from Uganda.

Somebody broke into their vehicle in a nearby parking lot and stole about $7,500 in donations from a previous concert, as well as an iPad and two laptop computers.

"We are heartbroken but not discouraged," the choir states on its website. "We are continuing our journey through Canada, ministering to cities and communities."

There's a link to its Canadian sponsor's donation page for anyone who wishes to contribute to the Sawuti Choir.
