A road-rage dispute that erupted over a parking spot on Vancouver Island escalated to the point that one woman wound up brandishing a weapon.

Around 1 p.m. on April 28, a woman reported to West Shore RCMP that she had been involved in a confrontation in the Costco parking lot located at 799 McCallum Road in Langford on Vancouver Island.

The caller alleged that when she tried to park in a stall at Costco, a female driver drove in and took the parking stall.

After the two women got into a verbal argument over the parking spot, the female suspect reached into her vehicle. She pulled out a machete and held it in a threatening manner.

The complainant backed off and contacted police.

West Shore RCMP spokeperson Cst. Nancy Saggar stated that after RCMP issued a news release about the incident, the suspect contacted RCMP and identified herself.

Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact West Shore RCMP or Crimestoppers.
