Update: Kwantlen Polytechnic University announced that all campuses are reopening on May 9 and classes will resume as scheduled.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) announced today (May 8) on its website and social media that as of 11:30 a.m. it is evacuating all five of its campuses, which will remain closed for the rest of the day.

KPU stated on its website that Surrey RCMP alerted the university of an “unsubstantiated threat” against the school that is not specific to anyone on campus.

All classes are cancelled and all buildings will remain closed as security reviews the situation and Surrey RCMP conduct an investigation.

KPU has campuses in Cloverdale, Surrey, Richmond, and Langley.

The KPU campus status webpage will be updated when more information is available.
