A man undergoing what appeared to be a mental-health crisis has been apprehended in Delta.
Prior to 7 p.m. on May 7, the Delta Police Department received several calls about a naked man walking and spinning around in the middle of Scott Road near 90th Avenue.
Witnesses reported that the man also climbed onto a vehicle, with a family with two children inside, and proceeded to jump on it.
When the man entered the vehicle, a bystander removed him from it.
When police arrived at the scene, the man was walking down the middle of 120th Street and appeared to be scared and worried.
After police asked him to sit on the centre median, they placed him in handcuffs without force. He was arrested under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital.
Although the vehicle was slightly damaged, the family in the car are fine and no members of the public were harmed.
Delta police chief Neil Dubord stated in a news release that their officers received critical incident and mental-health intervention training to de-escalate situations when people are undergoing crises.
The investigation remains ongoing.
