Motorcyclist and driver seriously injured in collision on Sea to Sky Highway near Lions Bay

      RCMP are seeking witnesses of a crash that took place on the Sea to Sky Highway near Lions Bay that resulted in serious injuries.

      North Vancouver RCMP announced today that around 3:30 p.m. on May 13, Squamish RCMP and Sea to Sky Traffic Services responded to reports about a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle on Highway 99 in a U-turn area near Lions Bay.

      Officers determined that a Kia Rio had been using the northbound U-turn lane and turned left across the highway in front of a southbound Triumph motorcycle.

      Both the Kia Rio driver and the motorcyclist were seriously injured.

      The highway has two northbound lanes and two southbound lanes that are separated by a concrete barrier with a designated U-turn area for northbound and southbound traffic.

      Road and weather conditions at the time were dry with unlimited visibility.
