Vancouver firefighters battled a fire that had engulfed a garage in Point Grey this morning before any neighbouring structures caught aflame.

Fire crews were called to a house near Sasamat Street and West 5th Avenue prior to 7 a.m. today (June 3).

News 1130 reported that some neighbours in the area heard something that sounded like an explosion around 6:30 a.m.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire that had developed in a garage before it reached the adjacent residence.

However, the house did sustain some minor damage due to the intensity of the radiant heat, according to Vancouver Fire Rescue Services.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Vancouver Fire Chief Darrell Reid.

This fire took place one day after a three-alarm fire developed on the 15th floor of an apartment building on Pacific Street in Vancouver's West End.
