A violent home invasion took place in the West End this morning that has left one woman with serious injuries.

Around 6:30 a.m. today (June 14), police were called to an apartment on Beach Avenue near Jervis Street.

A 29-year-old woman was reported to have been attacked by a man who appears to have entered through an unlocked patio door.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Vancouver police are searching for a white male in his 30s who is about 183 centimetres (six-feet) tall with short dark hair and stubble.

He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and blue jeans, and walked away from the crime scene.
