Police are seeking to locate an elderly woman with accelerated dementia who went missing in Vancouver today.

Bofong Chan, who is 79 years old, was last seen before 11 a.m. today (June 17) near East 41st Avenue and Dumfries Street.

She only speaks Cantonese and walks very slowly due to problems with her knees.

Chan is described as 157 centimetres (five-feet, two-inches) tall and weighs 50 kilograms (110 pounds) with a light complexion, short white hair, and dark eyes.

She may be wearing a black bucket hat and blue leather shoes while carrying a black bag. She may appear confused and is unlikely to ask for help.

Chan frequently uses transit and has been known to travel to UBC.

Anyone who sees her is asked to call 911 and remain with her until help arrives.
