A police watchdog agency is conducting an investigation after a male suspect involved in a break-and-enter in North Vancouver injured himself when he fell three storeys.

After 8 p.m. on June 20, RCMP responded to a report from a resident that a man with a weapon had entered their apartment in a residential building in the 2600 block of Fromme Road in North Vancouver.

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw the described male suspect hanging from the window of a third-floor apartment.

After he dropped to the ground, he was arrested without incident and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

      He remains in police custody.

RCMP notified the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) about the incident. IIO BC will determine if the police actions are linked to the man’s injuries. Police are not releasing any further information as the investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, North Vancouver RCMP are continuing an investigation into the break-and-enter case.
