Power returns to much of Vancouver's West Side following outage affecting 7,500 customers

      This morning, residents living in a significant portion of Vancouver's West Side woke up to no electricity.

      At its peak, about 7,500 customers were without electricity.

      The power is now returning to an area extending from Trafalgar Street to Granville north of Nanton Avenue and extending down to Granville Island.

      According to B.C. Hydro, only about 600 customers don't have electricity.

      The outage was triggered by a problem at a substation and a transmission circuit failure.

      It caused overlapping power failures, which are shown in the map above.
