One man was hospitalized after a large fight broke out at a New Westminster nightclub on the weekend.

Around 11:40p.m. on June 22, a patrol officer in the unit block of Church Street was approached by a 41-year-old male who claimed he had been assaulted with a weapon.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening puncture wound.

After speaking with witnesses, investigators determined that the assault took place at a nightclub in the unit block of Church Street after a verbal altercation began between two males and escalated into a fight involving around 10 individuals.

The investigation is continuing on and anyone with information or video is asked to contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
