Suspicious death of 78-year-old man found at South Vancouver appliance business: VPD investigation

      Update (June 27): The Vancouver Police Department announced that it is treating the death of McIver's owner John Leslie McIver as a homicide. No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is continuing on.

      The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has launched an investigation into a man found dead under suspicious circumstances at a business in South Vancouver today.

      Just prior to 8:30 a.m. today (June 26), Vancouver police were called to McIver’s Appliance Sales and Service, at 38 East 69th Avenue near Ontario Street.

      Upon arrival, officers found 78-year-old John Leslie McIver dead at the scene.

      No arrests have been made yet and VPD homicide detectives have taken over the case. No further details have been released.

      This death follows a separate case involving the arrest of a 30-year-old man after a man in his 30s was fatally shot near Main Street and East 35th Avenue on June 25.
