There were no arrests at last night's fireworks display in downtown Vancouver.

That prompted a thank you to the hundreds of thousands of attendees from the Vancouver Police Department.

The crowd's good behaviour along the banks of English Bay left police with not nearly as much to do as at previous events.

So Sgt. Steve Ballance took some photos, which were distributed over social media.

Deputy Chief Howard Chow tweeted photos from the air.

And Deputy Chief Steve Rai tipped his hat to India, which was putting on the show, with the hashtag #Bharat.

Bharat is the poetic name for India.

It's derived from Sanskrit for a descendant of the legendary emporer Bharata, who was the brother of Rama in the epic Ramaya.

Bharat is also the title of a recent Bollywood film starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, which highlighted long-term pain caused by the partition of Pakistan and India.

For those who missed the fireworks, you can see images below that are floating around on social media.
