Summer is a time when some folks love to show off their motorcycles and souped-up cars. But Surrey RCMP have red-lighted several drivers and motorcyclists in South Surrey by seizing their vehicles.

Surrey RCMP stated in a news release today (August 1) that car drivers and motorcyclists have been congregating in an area in the 2800 block of 192nd Street, leading to numerous reports about unsafe driving.

On July 12, officers seized and impounded nine vehicles for seven days for stunt driving.

Those caught engaging in what the Mounties deemed to be risky behaviour were fined $368 and whacked with six points on their driving records.

Surrey RCMP Sgt. Gary Goller stated that high-risk driving behavior contributes to 66 percent of serious or fatal collisions in Surrey.
