Surrey RCMP investigating early-morning shooting in Whalley

      A shooting took place early this morning in the Whalley area of Surrey, according to Surrey RCMP.

      At 1:50 a.m. on August 12, police responded to gunfire in the 10600 block of King George Boulevard in Surrey.

      Officers found a man in the area with a head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.

      According to Surrey RCMP, initial indications suggest that the incident was targeted.

      As the investigation into the shooting continues, anyone with information about it or who has footage is asked to contact Surrey RCMP or Crimestoppers.

      Several other shootings took place in the Whalley area last month, including on July 19, in which no one was injured, and on July 25, in which one man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

      Also on July 19, a shooting near Mud Bay Park in Surrey resulted in two individuals being hospitalized in Surrey and Langley.  

      More recently on August 2, a fatal shooting took place at a drive-through in South Surrey. The victim was identified as 43-year-old Suminder Grewal, who RCMP stated has connections to an organized crime group.
