Missing person: 31-year-old man last seen with Taiwanese tour group in Abbotsford in July
The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) announced today (August 13) that they are continuing to search for a 31-year-old male who was last seen over one month ago.
Around 11:45 p.m. on July 4, Ci Hong Liao was last seen entering his hotel room at the Best Western located at 32110 Marshall Road in Abbotsford. He was part of a Taiwanese tour group.
Then around 8:30 a.m. on July 5, the group guide went to Liao’s room before the tour continued on but found that Liao, his belongings, and his luggage were all gone.
Liao speaks English and doesn’t have any known connections to the Lower Mainland. APD Sgt. Judy Bird could not confirm his official language but stated that he booked his trip with a travel service in Taipei, Taiwan, and has a Taiwanese passport.
He is described as being around 170 centimetres (five-feet, seven-inches) and weighs 68 kilograms (150 pounds). He has short black hair and brown eyes, and he was last seen wearing a thin blue jacket and either blue jeans or black pants.
The APD is working with Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Canada Border Services Agency, B.C. Missing Person Centre, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the APD at 604-859-5225 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
