Updated: two male suspects wanted on Canada-wide warrants turn themselves into Surrey RCMP

      Update (August 29): Surrey RCMP announced that Shakiel Singh Basra and Amarpreet Singh Samra, who were wanted on Canada-wide warrants, turned themselves in on August 26.

      They were taken into custody and scheduled to appear in court on August 30 on several charges including unlawful confinement, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats.

      A search is on for two men who are wanted on Canada-wide warrants and are believed to be in Metro Vancouver.

      Shakiel Singh Basra and Amarpreet Singh Samra, who are both 25 years old, are wanted on multiple charges including unlawful confinement, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats.

      Surrey’s General Investigation Unit and the Surrey Gang Enforcement Team are investigating incidents involving the two suspects, which are believed to be isolated and targeted.

      Basra is described as a South Asian male who is 183 centimetres (six-feet) tall and weighs 54 kilograms (119 pounds). He has a thin build and short black hair.

      Samra is described as a South Asian male who is also 183 centimetres (six-feet) tall and weighs 68 kilograms (150 pounds). He has a medium build, black hair, and brown eyes.

      They are believed to be in the Surrey area and are associated with using a black 2007 BMW X5 with the B.C. license plate JL8 17D.

      Anyone who sees them is asked not to approach them but to call police instead.
