The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has released the name of a man who was stabbed early Friday (August 16) morning.

Delphin Paul Prestbakmo, 45, was pronounced dead on the scene in a parking lot in the Semiahmoo Shopping Centre.

It's in the 1700 block of 152nd Street in South Surrey.

A police dog founded a male suspect at a nearby home, and he's been taken into custody.

"We need Delphin Prestbakmo’s closest friends and associates to come forward,” Sgt. Frank Jang said in an IHIT news release. “We also urge any witnesses who were in the area of the 1700 block of 152 Street to contact us.”

According to investigators, the stabbing was likely targeted, which means that the general public is not at risk.

Police are still trying to figure out a motive for the attack.
