Elderly Vancouver cyclist suffers life-threatening injuries after hit-and-run in Kitsilano

      An elderly cyclist sustained life-threatening injuries after colliding with a vehicle in a hit-and-run that took place in Kitsilano this morning.

      According to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), just before 10 a.m. today (August 20), a male cyclist from Vancouver in his 70s was riding his bicycle along Collingwood Street.

      The cyclist was attempting to cross West 4th Avenue when a vehicle heading eastbound on West 4th Avenue collided with him. The vehicle did not stop and left the scene.

      The cyclist was taken to hospital and is in serious condition.

      Witnesses suggest a taxi may be involved in the incident.

      The VPD is investigating the collision and has identified a suspect. The VPD stated more details will be provided as they become available.
