Update (August 25): Sunshine Coast RCMP stated that a body believed to be missing kayaker Jesse Farrand from Roberts Creek, B.C., was located near Powell River.

RCMP are not providing any further information at this time out of respect for the family.

      Original article (August 23):

Sunshine Coast RCMP are seeking help in locating a 48-year-old kayaker who has been missing since Monday.

Jesse Farrand was last seen taking his kayak into the water at the end of Roberts Creek Road between 5 and 6 p.m. on August 19.

He had been driving an older model blue Dodge 3500 with two kayaks attached, which he parked at the Roberts Creek Beach parking lot before he headed out into the water with one of the kayaks.

The kayak he was in was a blue Breeze model made by Current (as in the stock photo below).

Anyone with beachfront property from Sechelt to Gibsons is asked to check their shoreline.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts or his kayak is asked to contact Sunshine Coast RCMP in Sechelt at 604-885-2266.

Elsewhere in B.C., two kayakers went missing in separate cases on Lake Okanagan in recent months.

Unfortunately, the bodies of both 41-year-old Colin Palmer of Pencticton, who went missing in July, and 71-year-old Zygmunt Janiewicz, who went missing in May, were later recovered from the waters and identified over this past month.
