A Chilliwack man who is wanted for thefts from seniors is still on the loose—and he appears to have enlisted the help of a female accomplice as he has continued to target more elderly victims.

Last week on September 5, North Vancouver RCMP identified 52-year-old Donald Robert Quinell as a suspect in a wave of “confidence frauds” (or gaining the trust of individuals in order to steal from them) from seniors in Vancouver, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver dating back to mid-July. He is also wanted on an outstanding Canada-wide warrant for breach of probation.

Quinell is wanted for a minimum of nine offences in North Vancouver and multiple charges in West Vancouver and Vancouver are expected as well.

However, two more incidents have been reported since that time.

On September 9, an elderly man thwarted the male suspect’s efforts by refusing to allow him to enter his residence.

The suspect left and reportedly entered a blue, four-door vehicle which had a female passenger sitting inside it.

In another incident, a male and female suspect told an elderly man that they had locked their keys inside their car in a Safeway parking lot in Westview Mall.

The male suspect claimed that there was ice cream inside the car that was melting and they needed the elderly man’s help.

In addition, the male suspect claimed to know the elderly man and pretended to be his neighbor. He convinced the elderly man to give them a ride to their house, which he claimed was across the street from the elderly man’s residence.

However, the senior did not realize that at some point during their interactions, one of the suspects had gotten a hold of his wallet and stolen his credit cards.

The male suspect is described as a 52-year-old well-dressed white male (who appears to be in his 40s or 50s) with a light to medium complexion.

He is 185 centimetres (six-feet, one-inch) tall and weighs 86 kilograms (190 pounds). He has short brown hair and brown eyes, and he may be wearing glasses or a ball cap.

His companion is described as a white female who appears to be anywhere from 30 to 40 years old. She has shoulder-length blond hair, and was wearing a blue top and dark jeans.

Anyone who sees these suspects, or who witnesses anything suspicious that may appear related to these cases, is asked to call 911 immediately.

Anyone who may have been a victim is asked to report it to their local police department.
