After the Conservatives were pummelled for a week by the Liberal war room, they've come fighting back with a new tactic.

Sen. Linda Frum and right-wing polemicist Ezra Levant have tweeted photos of Justin Trudeau in close proximity to tennis superstar Bianca Andreescu.

Trudeau was in Mississauga on Sunday (September 15) as the city celebrated the 19-year-old's recent victory in the U.S. Open.

But to Levant, the Liberal leader was simply too near.

"Why is this creepy middle-aged pick-up artist physically touching a teenaged girl?" he asked.

In another tweet, Levant used a hashtag to remind people about an alleged groping incident involving Trudeau when he was 28 years old.

For her part, Frum injected the term #MeToo in one of her tweets drawing attention to the picture.

On the weekend, Andreescu thanked the city of Mississauga for hosting a parade.

In her tweets, she included photos of her with Trudeau and retweeted the prime minister's message calling her an "inspiration".

That spurred CKNW Radio broadcaster Charles Adler to make this declaration: "A Canadian woman is commenting on an event as she experienced it. One has a choice. Believe Bianca @Bandreescu_ or those trying to turn her into a partisan political prop. I #BelieveBianca."
