Everyone knew that today's climate strike in Vancouver was going to attract a large number of people.
But no one suspected in advance that it would reach 100,000, which is the most recent estimate from the Vancouver Police Department.
Climate had already become a major issue in the federal election even before Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg stepped foot on Canadian soil.
Her presence in Montreal drew more attention to the climate strike across the country.
In Vancouver, people gathered at Vancouver City Hall before crossing the Cambie Bridge, moving down Seymour Street, and then heading along West Georgia to the Vancouver Public Library's Central Branch.
