After fires broke out at several residences in Tsawwassen, police are investigating the blazes as suspicious.

The Delta Police Department stated that around 9:20 p.m. on October 7, Delta police received notification about a fire at some abandoned residences at 8A Avenue in Tsawwassen, all of which were vacant and slated for demolition.

Upon arrival, officers found the house at 5375 8A Avenue was engulfed by a blaze while the neighbouring residence at 5383 8A Avenue was damaged by fire.

A third property at 5361 8A Avenue sustained damage on its eastern side, possibly due to heat from the fire.

Neighbouring residences were evacuated due to risk of the fire spreading, as it was being extinguished by fire crews.

Then around 12:30 a.m. on October 10, Delta police received a report about a fire at 5361 8A Avenue, which had suffered fire damage on October 7.

By the time police arrived, the structure was already engulfed by the blaze. No neighbouring buildings were affected and there weren’t any reported injuries.

All of these fires are being considered suspicious.

According to the DPD, investigators do not believe these fires to be connected to a fire that gutted a Ladner tattoo shop on October 2, which is also being deemed suspicious.

Delta police are seeking to speak with witnesses, particularly a male seen on a bicycle reported by several witnesses.

Anyone with information or who has dashcam footage in the area around the time of the fires is asked to call the DPD at 604-946-4411 or, to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
