West 4th Avenue police incident in Vancouver linked to Campbell River murder

      Campbell River RCMP have offered an explanation for a serious police incident in Kitsilano late Wednesday (October 16) afternoon.

      Two men were arrested with the assistance of Vancouver police for a murder that occurred on the same day on the south side of Campbell River around 2:30 a.m.

      One was captured in downtown Vancouver and the other was taken into custody in the 2200 block of West 4th Avenue. Police towed a white SUV from the scene in Kitsilano.

      "During the arrest there was a violent struggle which resulted in one of the suspects being injured," the Mounties said in a news release. "No VPD officers were injured during the arrests."  

      According to Campbell River RCMP, the shooting death was targeted.

      The suspects' names have not been released and at this point no charges have been laid. Police said there's "an extremely low risk to the public".
