Update: violent federal offender, who didn't return to halfway house, arrested in Vancouver

      Update (October 25): The Vancouver Police Department announced that a witness called 911 around noon on October 24 after seeing a picture of James Larry Moyah, who was wanted Canada-wide, in the news. 

      Vancouver police arrested Moyah in the Downtown Eastside on the same day and he has been taken back into custody.

      A violent federal offender is unlawfully at large after he didn’t return to his halfway house last week.

      The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) announced today (October 22) that James Larry Moyah, who is 45 years old, is wanted Canada-wide for breaching the conditions of his statutory release.

      He is a two-time federal offender on release for aggravated assault, and has a history of violence and substance abuse.

      He is described as an Indigenous male who is about 179 centimetres (five-feet, 10-inches) tall and weighs 73 kilograms (160 pounds).

      He has brown eyes and long black hair, which he often wears tied in a ponytail.

      According to the VPD, he was last seen around 4 p.m. on October 18 wearing black pants, a black jacket with a white hood, and black shoes.

      Anyone who sees him should not approach him but, in addition to anyone who knows of his whereabouts, should call 911 immediately.
