(Communty announcement by the Vancouver Podcast festival)

The 2019 Vancouver Podcast Festival, presented by DOXA, features presentations by acclaimed storytellers including Martin Austwick (The Allusionist), Mike Browne (Dark Poutine), Christopher Goddard (Dirty John), Falen Johnson (Secret Life of Canada), Chris Kelly (CBC's This Is That), Ryan McMahon (Red Man Laughing, Thunderbay), Garth Mullins (Crackdown), Leah Simone-Bowen (Secret Life of Canada), Geoff Turner (On Drugs) and Helen Zaltzman (The Allusionist).

Free daytime workshops and panels will be hosted at the Vancouver Public Library’s theatre and Inspiration Lab, offering podcasters the opportunity to hone their own production skills and podcast listeners a chance to see what goes into the making of a podcast, from idea to creation to output.

Panel discussions will focus on ethical questions, the relationship between podcasting and other media, and using podcasts as an educational platform.

Masterclasses at SFU’s Djavad Mowafaghian World Art Centre will share practical skills and in-depth discussions for podcasters, documentarians, and other media makers.
