A firefighter from Squamish has been charged with child pornography offences.

A B.C. investigation into potential child pornography was launched due to information received from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.

Squamish RCMP and the Provincial Integrated Child Exploitation Unit jointly used a search warrant on June 27 that led to the arrest of a man for alleged child pornography offences.

John "Taavo" Martin, a 43-year-old Squamish firefighter, has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.

After his arrest, he was released on conditions.

As the case is before the courts, no further details are being released by RCMP and his next court appearance is scheduled for late November.
