RCMP have arrested two alleged property offenders suspected of running a theft operation out of an abandoned house in Burnaby.

Burnaby RCMP stated in a news release that after 9:30 p.m. on November 1, officers received a report about suspicious activity in the 5000 block of Keith Road in Burnaby.

The complainant had noticed a pickup truck parked near an open garage at an abandoned residence and observed a man and a woman loading items into the truck.

When officers arrived and approached the two individuals, the pair said they were doing cleanup work at the residence.

When police asked them to identify themselves, the man gave a fake name and was arrested for obstruction. After officers learned his real name, they found that he was wanted on a warrant from another jurisdiction.

Officers also discovered that the pickup truck had been stolen.

Consequently, the woman at the scene was also arrested.

Police found a number of stolen items in both the truck and residence, including a motorcycle, power tools, hand tools, suitcases, camping gear, and personal electronics.

As a result, a 42-year-old Vancouver woman and a 46-year-old Surrey man are facing charges of possession of stolen property. Their identities have not been released.
