Update: Vancouver police identify 43-year-old Downtown Eastside homicide victim found in West End

      Update (November 29): The Vancouver Police Department identified the homicide victim found in the West End on November 28 as 43-year-old Vancouver resident Fizul Jeremy Mohammed.

      A man was found critically injured in Vancouver’s West End this morning, and police are investigating possible connections to the Downtown Eastside.

      Shortly before 10 a.m. today (November 28), police received a report about a man in medical distress at Robson and Denman streets, according to a Vancouver Police Department (VPD) news release.

      The 43-year-old man from Vancouver, who had sustained life-threatening injuries, is believed to have been injured near Main and Hastings streets in the Downtown Eastside before he made his way to the West End where he collapsed.

      He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The VPD has identified his death as the city's ninth homicide of the year.

      The investigation, which is in its early stages, continues on.
