Vancouver has recorded its 13th motor-vehicle fatality of the year, matching the totals in both 2018 and 2017.
It came as a result of a collision just after 6 a.m. in the southeast corner of the city near the intersection of Boundary Road and Marine Drive.
A 40-year-old man did not survive. The driver of the other vehicle was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, one of the vehicles went airborne as it was travelling south on Boundary, smashing into a northbound vehicle.
"Speed was likely a factor," the VPD stated in a news release.
