A vehicle fatally struck a male pedestrian as he was crossing a road in Ladner last week.

Around 5:50 p.m. on November 28, two pedestrians were walking east on the north side of the 5800 block of Ladner Trunk Road near Harvest Drive, according to the Delta Police Department (DPD).

One of the pedestrians then attempted to head south by crossing Ladner Trunk Road.

According to the DPD, he allegedly tripped on the median and fell into the path of eastbound traffic whereupon a vehicle struck him.

Emergency Health Services arrived first at the scene and confirmed the pedestrian had died prior to police arrival.

The vehicle driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The man, whose identity has not been released, is a Delta man in his 30s.

Any witnesses of this incident are asked to call the DPD 604-946-4411.

One day prior to this accident, a vehicle struck an 88-year-old woman at the intersection of Willingdon Avenue and Beresford Street in Burnaby. She later died in hospital from life-threatening injuries.
