An observant neighbour assisted police with the arrest of a male suspect who allegedly broke into a residence in the Fraser Valley.

In the mid-afternoon of December 5, a resident called Chilliwack RCMP to report a stranger leaving the backyard of a neighbouring home in the 45000 block of Magdalena Place.

When officers arrived at the location, they gathered evidence that associated a male suspect and a vehicle to a break-and-enter at the house.

Early in the evening on the same day, officers linked the male suspect to a residence in the 3300 block of Robinson Road.

After officers converged in the area, the suspect was seen driving along Robinson Road, where he failed to stop for police.

Police arrested 40-year-old Ifraz Shamil Khan of Yarrow, B.C., at the Robinson Road residence. He remains in custody pending a court date in January.

Khan is charged with breaking and entering as well as flight from police.
