      A Surrey man charged with sexual offences has been released under conditions, according to a public advisory from the Delta Police Department (DPD).

      In April of this year, 69-year-old Gurchetan Singh Samra of Surrey, was charged with sexual interference and sexual assault for alleged offences that took place in Delta in January.

      Samra has been released on bail under the following conditions:

      • he must not go to any public park, public swimming area, or community centre where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, or at a day care centre, school ground, or playground;
      • he must have no contact or communication directly or indirectly with or be alone in the presence of any person who reasonably appears to be under the age of 16 years;
      • he must not engage in activities, volunteer work, or employment that could bring him into contact with persons under the age of 16 years.

      The DPD stated that they have been monitoring him since he was charged and released.

      “His name was not made public at the time of charges, as police sought clarification on publication bans regarding these charges,” the DPD explained in their news release.

      The DPD added that they “are not in a position to be able to release a photo” of Samra and can’t provide any additional information about this case.

      Anyone who observes Samra breaching his conditions or who has any information relevant to the current charges against him is asked to contact the DPD Sexual Offences Section at 604-946-4411.
