Two collisions in Surrey: female pedestrian hospitalized, male pedestrian dies from injuries

      Two separate collisions in Surrey involving pedestrians took place this weekend and this morning, one of which resulted in a fatality.

      Just after 5:20 p.m. on December 14, Surrey RCMP received a report that a car struck a pedestrian making a mid-intersection crossing.

      Officers arrived at the 7100 block of Scott Road and found a pedestrian with serious injuries.

      Although the collision victim was taken to hospital, he later died of his injuries. His identity has not been released.

      The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

      According to Surrey RCMP, neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor, based on initial assessments. However, the investigation is continuing on and any witnesses are asked to contact Surrey RCMP or Crime Stoppers.  

      Meanwhile, another fatal collision took place in Cloverdale this morning.

      At 7:30 a.m. today (December 16), police responded to a report about a collision at 188th Street and 56B Avenue in Surrey.

      A female pedestrian, who was struck by a vehicle, was taken to hospital in serious condition.

      The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police closed the area around the intersection during the investigation.
