B.C. RCMP are searching for a boat that was stolen while docked at an island near Vancouver Island.

Nanaimo RCMP stated today (December 17) that a boat was stolen from the Mud Bay Community dock on Protection Island (which is located west of Nanaimo) on December 12.

The vessel is a 1976 17-foot Boston Whaler Montauk with serial number 13K61442.

It has a three-blade stainless steel prop and a Mercury outboard engine.

A unique feature on the vessel is a notable iron-cross tiedown mounted on its deck.

At the time of the theft, the vessel wasn’t insured and there wasn’t any fuel in it.

Anyone with information about the location of the boat or who stole it is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or, to remain anonymous, Nanaimo Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
