Plane crashes on west coast of Vancouver Island

      A second plane has gone down in less than two weeks in southwestern B.C.

      Today, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria confirmed to CHEK News the wreckage of a small aircraft has been found near Stewardson Inlet.

      There's no word on the number of people who were on board the plane, which is believed to be a Cessna 172.

      It was expected to land at Courtenay Airpark on Saturday (December 21), according to CHEK.

      On December 10, three people died, including pilot Alex Bahlsen, when a small plane crashed on Gabriola Island.

      Update

      The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed that one person died in the plane crash. No name has been released.
