Male pedestrian, 58, dies after hit by vehicle in Maple Ridge

      After a vehicle struck a pedestrian in Metro Vancouver, a collision victim has succumbed to his injuries. 

      Around 6:45 p.m. on December 21, B.C. Emergency Health Services contacted police about a pedestrian hit near the intersection of 223rd Street and Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge.

      A white Ford flatdeck truck had collided with a pedestrian, who was knocked backward and hit his head on the ground.

      The victim, a 58-year-old Maple Ridge man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

      Today (December 24), Ridge Meadows RCMP provided an update that he died from his injuries.

      The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

      Ridge Meadows RCMP stated that impaired driving and speeding are not considered contributing factors to the collision.
