A 28-year-old male taxi driver did not survive his injuries after a collision with a car2go vehicle at the intersection of East 1st Avenue and Renfrew Street.

Sanehpal Singh Randhawa worked at Yellow Cab since 2015 and recently bought a home in Surrey.

The crash around 3:30 a.m. resulted in the car2go vehicle driver—a man in his 20s—being rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The taxi driver's death is the 14th-traffic related fatality in Vancouver in 2019.

Vancouver police disclosed in a news release that the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has been notified because the driver of the car2go vehicle may have been evading officers at a CounterAttack roadblock before the crash.

The taxi may have been t-boned, according to police, after the driver of the car2go drove through a red light.

The collision caused the cab to crash into the side of a Royal Bank building, causing extensive damage.

Two passengers in the cab were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
