A male teenager was hospitalized after a shooting last night and investigators are appealing to the public for any information about the incident.

At 10:15 p.m. on January 5, RCMP responded to a report about a shooting near Willingdon Avenue and Burke Street in Burnaby.

Officers who arrived at the location found an 18-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound on his leg and a vehicle that had been shot at.

According to Burnaby RCMP, the victim appears to have been in a grey 2011 Suzuki Swift with two other males. As they headed south on Willingdon Avenue, a white sedan pulled up alongside them and opened fire on them.

After the Suzuki Swift crashed, the three occupants fled from the scene, including the victim who was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers located the two other men, who didn’t sustain any injuries.

The suspect vehicle left the scene in an unknown direction.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and all three males are known to police.

Any witnesses, anyone who has information about this incident or anyone who has dashcam video from the area between 10 and 10:30 p.m. on January 5 is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
