A vehicle collision has damaged the facade of an upcoming high-end restaurant across from Vancouver’s City Hall.

VPD spokesperson Sgt. Aaron Roed told the Georgia Straight that at 1:30 p.m. on January 5, Vancouver police responded to a report about a motor-vehicle accident at the intersection of West 12th Avenue and Cambie Street.

Sgt. Roed stated the driver had made a left turn on to West 12th Avenue but wound up driving off the road and hitting a building at the corner of Cambie Street.

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Luckily, there weren’t any other individuals involved in the collision.

The vehicle crashed into the front of 2808 Cambie Street, which is where the Chinese fine-dining restaurant Quan Ju De is preparing to launch.

It will be the first North American location for the Chinese restaurant brand, which is known in Asia for its Peking duck.

While the menu will blend traditional Chinese cuisine with North American influences, the restaurant is also promising to offer a 5D, or multidimensional, dining experience that incorporates immersive, interactive, and storytelling elements. The opening date has not been announced yet.
