After an early-morning blaze broke out at a Langley residence, police arrested a suspect who has been charged with arson.

Langley RCMP stated on January 20 that around 3:40 a.m. on January 17, the Langley Fire Department and Langley RCMP were called to a fire at a residence in the 23200 block of 88th Avenue.

A passerby had alerted residents, who were safely evacuated.

Investigators determined the fire to be suspicious in origin and it is believed to be an isolated incident.

After surveillance footage was obtained, investigators determined a suspect description. While canvassing the neighbourhood, officers saw the suspect passing through the area and arrested him.

Mark Dyble, a 24-year-old Langley resident, was charged with arson. He was released by the courts under conditions.

As the investigation remains ongoing, anyone who was in the area of 88th Avenue and McAllister Street between 3 and 4 a.m. who may have seen anything suspicious is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
