One pedestrian killed and another suffers serious injuries after being hit by delivery van in Yaletown

      The first pedestrian fatality of the year in Vancouver is a woman in her 70s who was struck by a vehicle in Yaletown.

      Her husband, also in his 70s, is in hospital with serious injuries after also being hit by the same vehicle—a delivery van.

      The collision occurred around 5:20 p.m. on January 19 in a marked crosswalk at Pacific and Richards streets, according to Vancouver police.

      The driver, a 37-year-old man from Surrey was turning left onto Pacific at the time. He is cooperating with police.

      Anyone with dash-cam video or who saw the crash is being asked to contact the VPD's collision investigation unit at 604-717-3012.

      Meanwhile, a 55-year-old male pedestrian died after a vehicle hit him in South Surrey today (January 22).
