Vancouver police identify 45-year-old female murder victim found in Gastown on January 19

      After a violent weekend across Metro Vancouver, the victim of Vancouver’s second homicide of the year has been revealed.

      Around 1:30 a.m. on January 19, Vancouver paramedics called police to 112 Water Street in Gastown where a female victim was found injured in her residence and did not respond to efforts to resuscitate her.

      Today (January 24), the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) identified 45-year-old Tonya Hyer of Vancouver as the victim of murder.

      Police haven’t made any arrests yet.

      “Investigators believe there are people in the community who know Hyer and have information surrounding her death,” VPD spokesperson Cst. Tania Visintin stated in a news release.

      Yesterday (January 23), the VPD identified the male body found in a parking lot at Marine Gateway Cineplex on January 18 at 31-year-old Mathieu Flynn of Richmond.

      Meanwhile, Burnaby RCMP found 28-year-old Julian Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound around 6:30 p.m. on January 19 at a Chevron gas station at 4487 Canada Way. Johnson later died of his injuries in hospital.
