Early-morning home-invasion in Burnaby leaves 31-year-old man with gunshot wound

      A shooting that took place early this morning in Burnaby has resulted in one man being hospitalized as police launch an investigation.

      Burnaby RCMP stated that at 5:10 a.m. today (January 30), officers responded to a report of a home invasion in the 5500 block of Patterson Avenue in Burnaby.

      At the location, officers found a 31-year-old man who has sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot injury. The victim was taken to hospital.

      Investigators believe it was a targeted incident but is unrelated to other violent incidents that have occurred this month in Burnaby.

      The victim is known to police and investigators are working with the victim on a description of the suspect.

      Anyone driving in the area of Patterson Avenue and Bond Street between 4:45 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. today and has dash cam video, or anyone who witnessed this incident taking place or has information that could assist the investigation, is asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
