A collision in Port Coquitlam on Saturday has tragically resulted in the death of a cyclist.

Coquitlam RCMP stated that shortly after 2 a.m. on February 29, a 29-year-old cyclist from Port Coquitlam was heading south on the Coast Meridian Overpass when a vehicle, which was driving east on Kingsway Avenue, struck him at the intersection at Broadway Street in Port Coquitlam.

Unfortunately, the cyclist died in the collision. His name has not been released.

The driver is cooperating with police and investigators do not believe that impaired driving was a contributing factor.

Officers who arrived at the scene learned that there may have been some witnesses who left before police arrived.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550.

Meanwhile, two collisions also took place in Vancouver on February 29 and March 1. On February 29, two child passengers sustained serious injuries in a collision between two vehicles in East Vancouver.

Then on March 1, a collision on the north end of the Burrard Bridge resulted in a 20-year-old male being hospitalized with serious injuries.

Also, a vehicle hit a female pedestrian with a two-year-old child in a parking lot in Squamish on February 28. Although both pedestrians were rushed to hospital, the two-year-old child succumbed to injuries.
