A male suspect is in custody after a stabbing took place near the False Creek North seawall last night.

Around 7 p.m. on March 4, officers responded to a man chasing people with a knife near Davie Street and Marinaside Crescent in the Yaletown area, according to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).

A group of four friends had allegedly been taking photos in Coopers Park on Marinaside Crescent when a man confronted them and stabbed one of them.

The stabbing victim, an 18-year-old male, suffered minor physical injuries.

Police arrested a 34-year-old male suspect of no fixed address.

“The man resisted arrest, and several tactical resources were used to protect the public and take him into custody, where he remains,” VPD spokesperson Sgt. Aaron Roed stated in a news release.

The VPD recommended charges for assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, failure to comply with a release order, and obstruction of a peace officer.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the VPD non-emergency line at 604-717-3321 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
