After two separate child pornography investigations in British Columbia, RCMP have arrested two male suspects, one man in Surrey who is affiliated with Scouts Canada and another in Nanaimo.

Surrey RCMP stated on March 3 that an investigation into an individual identified as making child pornography available online began back on September 26, 2019.

After officers used a search warrant at a South Surrey residence on December 5, charges were laid against 57-year-old Edward Vandeyck of Surrey on February 28.

Vandeyck has been charged with accessing, possessing, and distributing child pornography.

As Vandeyck is affiliated with Scouts Canada, he has been in direct contact with children in the community.

Anyone who may have information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact investigators at 604-599-0502.

In a separate case on March 4, Nanaimo RCMP stated that they had launched a child pornography investigation in May 2018.

In September 2018, officers executed a search warrant at the residence of 29-year-old Tori Bruce Schild in Nanaimo and seized items.

Then on February 27 of this year, he was arrested and charged with the possession, downloading, and distribution of child pornography.

      No local victims were identified.

Schlid appeared in Nanaimo provincial court on the day of his arrest, and has been released on conditions. He is scheduled to next appear in court on Tuesday (March 10).
