Updated: missing 37-year-old man from Burnaby found deceased

      Update: Burnaby RCMP stated on March 23 that Ryoji Fujita was found deceased. According to Burnaby RCMP, he died from injuries he sustained during an accident while hiking and foul play was not a factor in his death.

      Burnaby RCMP thanked Lions Bay Search and Rescue for assistance in locating Fujita.

      A search is on for a missing man who may have gone hiking.

      Burnaby RCMP stated today (March 18) that they are searching for 37-year-old Ryoji Fujita.

      Investigators believe he may have gone hiking at Hat Mountain in Lions Bay on March 14. He hasn’t been heard from since that time.

      Lions Bay Search and Rescue is also assisting with the search.

      Fujita is described as a Japanese male who is 168 centimetres (five-feet, six-inches) tall with a slim build.

      He has short black hair and brown eyes.

      He is presumed to be wearing a black North Face jacket, black Marmot snow pants, and black North Face hiking boots, as shown in the provided photos.

      Anyone who may have seen him or has information on his whereabouts is urged to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
