Paul Forseth: Liberalism and socialism make for bad government

    1 of 1 2 of 1

I am offering myself in service, for good reasons. Think it through.

First: Many have concluded that it is Conservative values, which have been tested over time, that give best government. The disappointments of liberalism in Canada are well known. The social consequences of NDP thinking cannot be denied; any student of history knows what socialism brings. The NDP’s published beliefs have not changed—their philosophical outlook is well known and should be avoided.

Second: Sadly, we have had CCF-NDP since 1952 in New Westminster. After 61 years, it’s time for change. There was only one brief time, when the NDP were discredited and elected only two in the whole province, that we had a Liberal MLA for one term.

This time, the provincewide conclusion is that the government will be replaced. Therefore in this local environment, in New Westminster, the Liberal candidate has a very low chance. So what should we do—just sit home and let our democracy slide with another giveaway?

Third: My candidacy offers a constructive opportunity. Instead of staying home and giving up—as half the voters did last time—in New Westminster we can make national headlines by electing a Conservative.

My political credentials are well known. I’m dedicated to delivering real results for everyone—no one left behind. I’ve spent my political years speaking out for Canadians—who work hard, pay their taxes, and live by the rules. We can begin the march to protect our province, and have representation from the community, rather than only from a party.

Based on Conservative values such as personal responsibility, social and environmental respect, and returning democracy to our community, we now have a positive choice.

Make the effort and choose a better political road by supporting Conservative values at the ballot box. I appeal to you, especially to those who do not vote any more—to those who say it doesn’t matter.

We can do better. I have confidence that wise voters understand and will think it through. Make a commitment to get out and vote at the advance poll. Let me work for you, to conserve the best, and fix the rest. Thank you for your support!

"Based on Conservative values such as personal responsibility, social and environmental respect, and returning democracy to our community, we now have a positive choice."

Ha. Who's paying for this so-called commentary? The Fraser Institute? I would settle for one piece of evidence, anywhere, ever, that "social and environmental respect" was a Conservative value. But it isn't. Never has been, never will be.

Hand over any territory to the Cons and they'll drive an oil pipeline straight through your house, lay you off, give your job to migrant workers, foreclose on your home, blame you personally for it all, and send the cops to bash your teeth in the second you raise your voice. Those are the real 'conservative values'.

Many have concluded that it is Conservative (i.e. fascist) values, which have been tested over time, that give worst government. Sure, that kind of government may work to generate a profit in the short term, but there's only so much environmental rape and human rights violations a civilization can take until there is widespread war. Socialist values, on the other hand, are those that see people as being more important than the concept of capital. That is true government, government by and for the people, not just privatized profits.

I am a conservative, in that I believe in conserving things. The parcel of radicals that traffic as Conservative seem interested in conserving nothing except the best tid-bits for their friends, the rest may be wantonly outsourced, drained, sold, or set ablaze for future generations to wonder at. Meanwhile they denigrate the very notion of government itself, which is to say rational, evidence-based, international covenant-respecting decisionmaking, while playing host to every theocrat. No thanks.

Sir respectfully the Canadian Conservatives are the Worst thing that has been inflicted on Canada, ever, am thinking of Harper and Mulroney. So until your party demonstrates some Canadian values some human values, just go back to the drawing board and let the rest of us fix our Province and Nation.

When was the last time a Majority Conservative Federal government brought in a balanced budget? You are right none of us were born.
The only thing a Conservative government is good at is conserving wealth in the hands of a few.

Is this guy serious? By all means toot your own horn but don't even try to slag the other parties when your own party is responsible for record national debt and complete disregard for the environment. Why not talk about allowing outsourcing of canadian jobs and blowing money we don't have on action plan ads even though the action plan has been non-existent since 2012. The conservatives have dug a nice big hole under Harper so do not be surprised if the party gets kicked back to the stone age where it belongs in the coming elections, federal and provincial. Good riddance.
